Admission Criteria
 

Regular Admission

The minimum requirements for regular admission include:

1. A completed and signed application for admission.
2. An official transcript of a U.A.E. Secondary School Certificate with an average score of 60% or higher.
OR
An ‘O’ Level or ‘A’ Level (GCSE/IGCSE) certificate showing that the student have passed at least 7 subjects with minimum C grade in O Level, D in AS level and E in A level in each subject. The subjects studied should include Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social & Human Studies and Arts & Design (at least four of these subject areas).
OR
Any recognized secondary school certificate. The student must have passed the secondary/high school certificate which enables him/her to be admitted to accredited universities in their own countries. The duration of the study at school must NOT be 10 years only and in those countries that have two levels of secondary/high school education then the student must have successfully completed level II. The student must submit the original certificate (or an attested copy of the original) attested by the appropriate authority in the country where the certificate is issued (such as the Ministry of Education), the UAE Embassy in that country (or the country's Embassy in the UAE) and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
3. Satisfactory achievement in English with at least a TOEFL score of 500 (CBT – 173, iBT- 61) or IELTS 5.0.
4. For transfer applicants, good standing, as defined under transfer credits, at the last college attended and official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended showing sufficient academic achievement or potential to succeed at SC.

Conditional Admission

A student who does not manage to get a minimum score 500 in TOEFL can be admitted to the Associate degree programs and can register for a maximum of 15 credits in the General courses such as; Computer Operation & Applications, Business Mathematics, UAE Society & Culture, Computerized Accounting, Environmental Science Concepts and Studies in Islamic Culture in addition to the English Preparatory courses. Such a student must obtain a score of 500 or more in TOEFL within one year of the registration date and if he/she fails to do so then the student will not be eligible to continue his/her study.

The students who passed the secondary school with an average score between 55% and 60% are given conditional admission. The number of students admitted on conditional basis should be limited to a maximum of 10% of the total number of the students admitted. In such exceptional cases the student is allowed to register for 3 courses only in the first semester and he/she will be placed in the academic probation list. The student's performance will be monitored in the first semester and if he/she doesn't' achieve a GPA of 2.0 at the end of the first semester then the student will be allowed to register for a maximum of two courses and will be issued with a final warning to obtain a GPA of 2.0 or higher during the next semester; and the student will be dropped out of the program in case he/she fails to achieve a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
